Young Technology Scholars is a two-week intensive summer program where students are exposed to real-world engineering and problem-solving. Through hands-on learning and interdisciplinary coursework, you will learn how to leverage technology to solve complex problems. We wish to turn the next generation of students into tinkerers, idea generators, and fearless pattern sniffers with a strong motivation to identify and work on the most challenges problems in the world.
Pick between two interdisciplinary courses that each lie at the intersection of science, engineering and computing
Mind of a Mathematical Engineer
Master the problem solving approach that drives robotics, music and sustainability alike. Learn to understand and simulate behavior of systems even before you set out to build them. How do you make robots see, walk and work? Is your city more suitable for solar power or wind power? What makes music musical?
Explore, conceive and demonstrate how engineers use mathematics and computational tools to conceptualize, design and solve complex practical problems. Students will be introduced to the graphical programming interface to illustrate the engineering concepts, develop incisive solutions to problems that are too complex to model manually. In week two, you will choose an engineering challenge, study it in depth, develop and defend logic in your own approaches to create a new future.
Biological Systems Through Engineering Lens
Explore the dynamics of human physiology, development in health and its response to disease states. Extend mathematical frameworks to explore global health challenges. Can network topologies be used to tackle spread of acute infections? Can systems biology, genomics be used to identify novel therapeutic approaches to attack cancer growth? How does the body fine tune response to changing hormones during puberty?
This exciting course will open your world at the intersection of biology, engineering and computing. Through interactive seminars, hands-on projects and a team project, you will learn about the fundamentals of systems biology, genomics and pharmacology (drug action), in parallel with developing capabilities to build computer simulations. In week two, you will choose a biological challenge, study it deeply, and build your own predictive model of how it is best regulated.

Who we are
Young Technology Scholars (YTS) is a program offered by Reimagining Higher Education Foundation (RHEF), a Non-Profit Organization founded by a consortium of more than 30 CEOs, Managing Directors and Founders of reputed companies based in India, Singapore, Hong Kong, United Kingdom and Silicon Valley. The program has been designed by senior faculty of leading universities around the world in collaboration with alumni from top institutions including IITs, IIMs, Harvard Business School, UC Berkeley and University of Michigan.
Our group is inspired by a collective vision to reimagine technology education to make it highly interdisciplinary, hands-on and linked to real-world problems. Young Technology Scholars (YTS) will provide a select group of bright students with a flavour of this exciting new paradigm of technology education which the group is bringing to India.
