Program Details
A two-week summer program designed for high schoolers, Young Technology Scholars is the first step towards reimagining the way engineering is taught and applied in India.
We wish to turn the next generation of students into tinkerers, idea generators, and fearless pattern sniffers with an appreciation of complexities in practical problems. Through hands-on problem solving, collaborative learning and evening workshops, students will build a fresh perspective with a deeper understanding of their interests.
The core-offering of the program is lectures delivered by top-notch faculty from across the world, which run throughout the duration of YTS. To complement these lectures, the students, under close mentoring by the faculty and teaching assistants, work on interdisciplinary projects that integrate fundamental sciences with engineering principles. These hands-on projects range from Building a self-balancing robot, to Developing a microscope using 3D-Printed parts, to Building an ECG machine that measures heart function!
All projects are designed to incorporate elements of mechanical design, electronic circuitry and computational programming. The students also get the opportunity to execute live demonstrations of their projects on the final day of the two-week program. In the build-up to these milestone projects, students undertake several foundational tasks such as coding, building electronic circuits, soldering, CAD modeling, 3D printing, and even assembling the plain old bicycle!
Given the pandemic situation, YTS 2021 will be online but we promise to give you an experience like never before! The core-offering of the YTS program is the exciting lecture series delivered by top-notch faculty from across the world. To complement these, the students, under close mentoring by the faculty and teaching assistants, work on interdisciplinary projects that integrate fundamental sciences with engineering principles. These hands-on projects range from Building a self-balancing robot, to Developing a microscope using 3D-Printed parts, to Building an ECG machine that measures heart function and many more exciting projects! I really looked forward to each day at YTS and the learning experience from cryptography to building electronic circuits to solving problems with python. We learnt from the best faculty who explained complex concepts with simplicity and helped us to build an interface to actuate origami hand

My YTS journey has been truly amazing. Teachers guided us so well and we made our very own ECG machine using sensors which measures the electrical activity of the heart at rest. It was a mesmerizing experience and could not have been any better
